Makhachkala: passersby support pickets in defence of journalist Gadjiev

On Friday, July 19, outside the building of Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan, solo pickets were held demanding to stop the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik". The pickets found support among passersby and drivers of cars passing by.

On July 25, the court satisfied the claim of the organizers of a mass action in support of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

On June 18, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of the "Chernovik" weekly, was arrested within a case concerning financing terrorism.

His colleagues and activists held a series of solo pickets in front of the Dagestani SC.

"We are absolutely confident of Gadjiev's innocence ... We'll defend our rights," said Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik".

Motorists passing by supported the picketers with their honks. Several passersby approached the picketers and expressed their support. People asked to convey words of support to Abdulmumin, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

It should be noted here that Magdi Kamalov believes that Gadjiev suffered because of his articles on Islamic topics.
