Social network users discuss evacuation of 33 children from Iraq
The Russian authorities took away from a Baghdad prison 33 children, whose mothers were sentenced or suspected of involvement in the ranks of militants. Social network users argue about whether those children should be transported to Russia. Residents of Chechnya, where nine of the children were brought, blamed Ramzan Kadyrov for self-PR actions.
On July 12, nine Chechen children brought from Iraq were taken from Grozny to Moscow. They were handed over to their relatives, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the office of the leader and the government of Chechnya. According to an official, the children with their mothers were kept in prisons in severe conditions.
According to various estimates, hundreds or even thousands of children from Dagestan, Chechnya, and other regions of the Caucasus may still stay in Iraq and Syria.
Some users of the social networks are concerned over whether children of militants do not share the views of their parents. According to the author of the "Jihad" Telegram channel, the children taken away from Iraq are brainwashed by the propaganda of the "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by the court.
A number of social network users spoke against transporting children from the conflict zone in the Middle East to Russia.
The authorities of Chechnya use the return of militants' children from Syria and Iraq for self-PR actions, local residents say. "No doubt, the return of children from the war zone is a noble cause; however, I believe our authorities use that primarily for demonstration of their capabilities," said Abubakar, a resident of Chechnya.
