Attacker on police post in Chechnya identified

Zelimkhan Musaev, a local resident, attacked the policemen in the Achkhoi-Martan District, the head of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 1, 2019, during an attack on the police post in Katyr-Yurt a policeman, who had been sent to Chechnya from the Kemerovo Region of Russia, was stabbed. According to the MIA, the attacker stabbed the policeman, threw a grenade and was killed by return fire. Later, the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack on policemen in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya was the third since the start of 2019 in Chechnya.

The attacker turned out to be Zelimkhan Musaev, a native of the village of Achkhoi-Martan, the website of the head and the government of Chechnya has reported with reference to the head of the Chechen MIA.

Zelimkhan Musaev, who is considered to be the attacker on the police post in Katyr-Yurt, was 26 years old, the Telegram-channel named "Directorate" has informed.
