Georgia reports problem with transporting patient across border with Abkhazia
Abkhazia banned to transport a woman from the village of Otobaya via the Enguri Bridge to Georgia for medical treatment, and the problem was solved after the intervention of EU observers, reported the office of the Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 27, the Security Service of Abkhazia announced a temporary ban on crossing the border with Georgia in connection with mass protests in that country.
The resident of the Otobaya village in the Gali District, born in 1987, required the help of doctors from the Burn Centre in Tbilisi. The Georgian side claims that the woman got burns up to 40% of her body and was in need of urgent medical treatment, but because of the restrictions imposed on the border by the authorities of Abkhazia, it was not possible to transport the patient via the Enguri Bridge.
The problem with the transportation of the patient was resolved after the intervention of the EU observation mission.
