Representative of Georgian Diaspora in Russia asks Putin to restore air traffic

Giorgi Tsurtsumiya, President of the Federal Georgian National-Cultural Autonomy in Russia, has appealed to the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, with a request to restore air flights between Georgia and Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "On Certain Measures to Ensure National Security of Russia and Its Citizens", according to which Russian airlines are forbidden, from July 8 on, to transport passengers to Georgia.

An open letter to Vladimir Putin with a request to restore air flights was published on June 28 on the official website of the Federal Georgian National-Cultural Autonomy in Russia.

"With dismay, the Diaspora was watching the mutual accusations, because the experience of the last 25 years showed that simple people are experiencing the hardest consequences, and not politicians at all ... We are sure that the ban will hurt millions of people, citizens of Russia and Georgia," says the above open letter.

The leaders of Russia and Georgia need to sit down at the negotiating table to find a way out of the problems accumulated in recent years, the head of the Diaspora believes.
