In Tbilisi, hunger-strikers call on authorities to meet their last demand

In Georgia, participants of the protest action in front of the parliament building have already achieved the resignation of the speaker of the Parliament, the ruling party's initiative to reform the electoral system, and they will not leave the place of the protest until their demand for the resignation of the Georgian Interior Minister is met, the participants of the hunger strike report on the fourth day of their protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 24, five young people set up tents in Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi and announced the start of their hunger strike.

In Georgia, protest actions are being held daily starting from June 20. The protesters have demanded from the authorities to release of the detainees, to dismiss Interior Minister Giorgi Gakhariya, and to hold parliamentary elections under a proportional system.

Today, the hunger-strikers have continued it and voiced once again their demand for the resignation of Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakhariya. "Today is the fourth day of our hunger strike, and, of course, we do not plan to stop this form of our extreme protest," said Giorgi Levandjava, one of the participants of the hunger strike, as quoted by the Georgian "Rustavi-2" TV Company. "The protesters have only one demand left, and it is the most important one," emphasized Giorgi Levandjava.

"The Georgian Interior Minister must take responsibility for the dispersal of the protest rally, including for the protestors' injuries resulting in loss of vision," said David Makhareishvili, another participant of the hunger strike.
