Abu Umar Sasitlinsky denies investigators' version in Abdulmumin Gadjiev's case
Dagestani preacher Israil Akhmednabiev, also known as Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, told blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov that despite the investigators' version, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), never transferred him money.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 18, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the "Chernovik", was arrested in a case concerning the financing of terrorism. In total, 11 people are suspected in the case. Abdulmumin Gadjiev pleads not guilty.
According to the investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev transferred money to the accounts of the foundations led by preacher Abu Umar Sasitlinsky. The investigators consider the preacher himself to be the organizer of terrorist financing through charitable foundations under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.
On June 26, Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov posted on his YouTube channel a video interview with Israil Akhmednabiev. The blogger asked him if he was somehow connected with the suspects in his case.
"In terms of work, in terms of what I do, I am absolutely not connected with anyone [of them] and do not know anyone of them," said Abu Umar Sasitlynsky. He has clarified that he knows Abdulmumin Gadjiev only as a well-known journalist. In 2009, Abdulmumin Gadjiev interviewed him for the "Chernovik", explained Abu Umar Sasitlinsky. "However, [Abdulmumin Gadjiev] absolutely never [contacted] me concerning the foundation," he said.
