Conscript soldier dies in Armenia

Investigators have begun checking the version of driving a soldier to suicide in Armenia.

According to investigators' preliminary version, a conscript soldier has perished this afternoon from a shot made from the Kalashnikov submachine gun assigned to him.

A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of the soldier's death, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia.

The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has added that the incident occurred at the Armavir military training ground.

The case of the soldier's death after he was wounded in the territory of a military unit is being investigated under the article "Driving to suicide", the Armenian IC has reported today.

Let us remind you that according to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia, in 2018, 38 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia and the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh perished while performing their service; 11 of them were driven to suicide.
