Protesters continue their action at Georgian Parliament

The protesters, who came to the building of the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi on June 22, have voiced out three demands to the authorities, including release, by the end of the day, of all those detained at previous actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers dispersed the protest action launched on June 20 near the building of the Georgian Parliament. The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) reported that 240 people were hospitalized.

In the evening on June 22, the protest action was resumed near the parliament building in Tbilisi located in Rustaveli Avenue. Its participants appealed to the government with an ultimatum, having put forward three main demands: liberation of all the detainees; resignation of Giorgi Gakhariya, the Interior Minister; and holding of early parliamentary elections under the proportional system.

"We demand from the government to take a step and show that they're ready to speak with the public. To fulfil the demands, the govt has the deadline – by the end of the day," Misha Mshvildadze, one of the protesters, Director of the "Creative Formula", has stated at the rally, as quoted by the "Rustavi-2" TV Company (here and hereinafter translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent).

Giorgi Shengelaya, a film director, has addressed the protesters. He said that an initiative group had been set up and prepared a draft resolution on the rally. Apart from the demands voiced out by Mshvildadze, it states the need to "stop the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili's informal ruling Georgia" and to ban the "Georgian Dream" Party founded by him.
