Pogorov's father calls on President Putin to intervene in situation with Ingush activists

In his video appeal to the President of Russia, Sarazhudin Pogorov, a 93-year-old father of Akhmed Pogorov, the co-Chair of the World Congress of the Ingush People, stood up for the arrested activists and requested the President to investigate the situation in Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 27, Akhmed Pogorov was put on the federal wanted list in the case on a protest rally in Magas on March 27.

On March 26, the rally participants in Magas refused to disperse; and on March 27, protesters clashed with law enforcers. According to investigators, 10 law enforcers received traumas. On April 7, in his video message, Akhmed Pogorov treated the events in Magas as a provocation and promised to pay all the fines imposed on activists.

Last night, a video appeal addressed to President Vladimir Putin was posted in "FortangaORG" page on the Facebook. The author of the video requests the President of Russia to respond to the situation in Ingushetia. According to the video, the author of the appeal is Elder Sarazhudin Pogorov. In his video appeal, the Elder asks the Russian President to set free the arrested Ingush activists.

"Vladimir Vladimirovich, at present, more than 30 detainees are being kept at SIZO (pre-trial prison), in the cities of Nalchik and in Vladikavkaz," says Sarazhudin Pogorov. He notes that the activists are "not guilty of anything." The Elder asks Vladimir Putin if he possesses the information about what "is happening in the republic." The father of Akhmed Pogorov also states that his son, an "honest officer," has been put on the federal wanted list. "Please consider [my appeal] and respond to it," says Sarazhudin Pogorov.
