PFPA reports kidnapping opposition activist in Baku

Bashir Tariverdiev, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was taken away to some unknown place, the party has informed, linking the incident with Bashir's political activities.

"Today, Bashir went out from his workplace in Baku. Eyewitnesses saw several men grabbing him, forcing into a car, and driving away," Gezyal Bairamly, a deputy chair of the PFPA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She believes that the young man is being persecuted for political reasons. "Bashir is one of the youngest activists of our party. He actively participated in protest actions. He was earlier arrested for that. Bashir is active in social networks; he covers political topics," Ms Bairamly has added.

Tariverdiev was one of the six PFPA activists, who were detained in March 2018 before a rally against the presidential election in Azerbaijan. Then, the court arrested him for 20 days on charges of disobeying the police.
