South Ossetia decides to close border with Georgia during parliamentary elections

South Ossetia has decided to close the border crossing points with Georgia for the period from June 8 to 11 in connection with the enhanced security measures introduced during the parliamentary elections.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that South Ossetia often announces the closure of its border with Georgia for several days. In particular, on May 24-26, 2019, the border was also closed for the period of the school leavers' parties.

Starting from 6:00 a.m. on June 8, the passage of people through the checkpoints on the border with Georgia will be closed due to the enhanced security measures introduced for the period of the parliamentary elections, the press service of the KGB of South Ossetia reported on its official page on Facebook on June 6.

"The usual operation regime of the border crossing points will be resumed at 6:00 a.m. Moscow time on June 11," announces the KGB of South Ossetia in its report.

The elections of delegates to the parliament of South Ossetia will be held on June 9.
