In Hamburg, activists demand to release Ingush activists

On April 7, in the German city of Hamburg, Ingush natives held a rally in support of activists detained in Ingushetia who protested against the border agreement with Chechnya and who demanded the resignation of Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after protest actions in Magas on March 26, three protest leaders Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Barakh Chemurziev were sentenced to administrative arrests. On April 4, Elder Akhmed Barakhoev went on hunger strike. A criminal case was instituted against other nine people on the use of violence against law enforcers.

Several dozens of people came to the rally in Hamburg to express their protest "against the repressions against the detained activists in Magas", the "Glavkom RI" Telegram-channel reports.

"The recent events in Ingushetia show that freedom of speech and freedom of opinion are limited. This is clear from the recent arrests of oppositionists, searches, and opened criminal cases. We show our dissatisfaction with what is happening (in the republic, note of the 'Caucasian Knot'), and we also support the demands of the opposition," said one of the rally participants.

According to him, the rally in Hamburg gathered not only Ingush people living in Germany, but also those living in neighbouring countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, and Austria.

The main point of the Hamburg rally was the demand to release the detained Ingush activists.
