Georgian resident detained on Abkhaz border

Law enforcers from Abkhazia crossed the Inguri River and kidnapped a citizen of Georgia, eyewitnesses assert.

Gela Rostobaya, a resident of the village of Shamgona of the Zugdidi municipality was kidnapped, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has reported.

"Local authorities, together with international organizations, are doing everything to free our kidnapped citizen," the Georgian Channel One has quoted Giorgi Shengeliya, the first deputy mayor of Zugdidi, as saying.

Yanur Rostobaya, the father of the kidnapped person, claims that his son was fishing in Inguri and did not get to the territory of Abkhazia, the "Georgia Online" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, Irakli Kvaratskheliya, a Georgian citizen, died after being detained while trying to cross the border with Abkhazia. Eyewitnesses reported that Kvaratskheliya was beaten up after detention.
