Kadyrov improves practice of public apologies for Chechens who are outside the republic
Muslim Djambekov, arrested for a fatal road accident in Moscow, is the second Chechen lately, who has apologized to the people, not to the authorities of Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov sees a threat to his image in any negative events involving Chechens, said Ruslan Kutaev, an activist, and Alexei Malashenko, a political analyst.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 29, Djambekov, who had disappeared from the scene of the road accident in Moscow, appeared at the Grozny police. A video with his apologies to the head of Chechnya caused bewilderment among republic's residents: they recalled that after a similar road accident in Grozny with the participation of a Kadyrov's relative, no punishment followed.
"Such apologies are intended to show that all Chechens, wherever they are, are reporting to Kadyrov if they commit some misconduct, and that Kadyrov's influence is expanding," Ruslan Kutaev, the head of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, is sure.
Djambekov's apologies to the Chechen people were another Kadyrov's step of self-promotion, Alexei Malashenko, a political analyst, believes.
He has added that the Chechens, who are outside the republic, are forced to apologize, since their misbehaviour may damage Kadyrov's image.
