Presentation of Georgian-Osetin newspaper took place without Osetins

On April 15 Georgian police did not let representatives of the South Osetia?s officials pass a block and get to the presentation of the Georgian-Osetin newspaper ?Iber-Iron? in Tbilisi.

The newspaper will be published in Russian once a month. This publication was initiated by the social and political movement ?Industry Will Save Georgia?.

The leader of the movement Gogi Topadze called ?provocation? the actions of the Georgian policemen who had not let the delegation from Tshinvali go. According to his words Georgian and Osetin intelligentsia engaged to work on a newspaper. The aims of the issue are to assist dialog between Georgian and Osetin public and to give unbiased information. Gogi Topadze noted that ?Industrialists? had worked out several projects in common with Osetin businessmen. These projects can also contribute to the conflict settlement.

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burdjanadze who had attended the presentation told journalists that Georgian and Osetin people had been friends for centuries and ?tragic events of the early 1990?s must not prevent them from finding each other once again?.
