Advocate Akhilgov reports dismissal of 19 policemen after rally in Ingushetia

The patrol-and-post service (PPS) battalion, which on March 26 refused to disperse the protesters in Magas, has been disbanded, Kaloi Akhilgov, an advocate and a former press secretary for the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, has informed today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26, the residents of Ingushetia, who demanded the resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, extended, without an authorities sanction, their protest action in a square in Magas, organized by the "Support of Ingushetia" movement. This led to clashes with law enforcers.

In Ingushetia, the battalion of the PPS service, whose employees defended the protesters in Magas, has been disbanded, the advocate, Kaloi Akhilgov said, noting that the policemen themselves had told him about it.

According to Mr Akhilgov, 19 policemen were fired "because of loss of trust," the "Dozhd" (Rain) information portal reports.

"Everything happened because of the story, when they refused to fulfil the order to disperse the protesters. Thanks to this regiment, there were no victims among the protesters; because the battalion did not allow a large number of "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) fighter to get into the territory where the protesters gathered," the MBKh Media" quotes Kaloi Akhilgov as saying.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no confirmation of the information voiced out by Mr Akhilgov.
