In 2018, in Stavropol Territory, number of victims to armed conflict up 33.3%
In 2018, in the Stavropol Territory, at least 8 persons fell victim to the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 6 persons were killed and other 2 were wounded. The number of victims by 33.3 percent exceeds the figure for 2017, when there were 6 victims. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Armed incidents
January-December 2018
In 2018, in the Stavropol Territory, 4 armed incidents were registered, to which 8 persons fell victim, including 6 killed suspected militants and 2 wounded law enforcers.
In April, a suspected member of the armed underground was killed in a special operation.
In May, two armed incidents occurred. In Neftekumsk, a man stabbed two policemen with a knife and was killed. In Nevinnomyssk, 2 suspected militants were killed when the police attempted to detain people suspected of involvement in the armed underground.
According to the law enforcement bodies, in December, in Stavropol, two suspected members of the armed underground were killed.

January-December 2017
In 2017, in the Stavropol Territory, three armed incidents were registered, to which 6 persons were killed. They were suspected militants. In December, in Stavropol, as a result of a counterterrorist operation (CTO), three men were killed: one of them was killed as a result of detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED). Besides, in December, in Stavropol, an unidentified man allegedly blew up a grenade in a multi-storey residential building, and after that he was killed by law enforcers. In April, other two persons were killed in the Kochubeevsky District while the police tried to detain them.
Thus, it can be concluded that in 2018, in the Stavropol Territory, the number of armed incidents increased by 33.3 percent as compared to 2017 and the number of victims to the above incidents also grew by 33.3 percent.
