Rights defenders: Daudov's words about blood feud will affect all political refugees

The absence of Kremlin's response to Magomed Daudov's threats to Tumso Abdurakhmanov can change the situation of other asylum seekers from Chechnya, says Svetlana Gannushkina, the head of the Civil Assistance Committee.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the debate of Djambulat Umarov, Chechen Minister for National Policy, with the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, on Akhmat Kadyrov's calls for jihad, had forced Ramzan Kadyrov to explain his father's words. The dispute with Abdurakhmanov resulted in Daudov's declaration, on March 9, of blood feud to the blogger for his words about Akhmat Kadyrov; however, Daudov stressed that this was not a threat of murder. In Abdurakhmanov's opinion, the open threats against him should have caused some reaction from the authorities, but the Kremlin has given a complete carte blanche to Chechen leadership.

Svetlana Gannushkina believes that Abdurakhmanov should in no case be extradited to Russia. According to her version, the absence of Kremlin's reaction to Daudov's words can change the situation of other asylum seekers from Chechnya, whose cases were not so widely known.

This opinion is shared by Albert Kuznetsov, a lawyer with the Committee against Torture (CaT), who believes that the declaration of blood feud to Tumso may affect his situation as well as the situation of those Chechens who seek political asylum in other countries. He has noted that Polish authorities refuse to provide Tumso with political asylum, but they can allow him to move to another country.
