In Ingushetia, court obliges authorities to provide housing for IDPs from Chechnya
On March 18, the Constitutional Court of Ingushetia found the provision stipulating that internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Chechnya, who received monetary compensation, are not eligible to receive housing contradicts the basic law of the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February, a group of IDPs from Chechnya requested the Constitutional Court of Ingushetia to check the constitutionality of the provision on housing for immigrants.
In February 2018, about 200 IDPs from Chechnya complained that when they had received scanty compensation, they lost their refugee status and the right to receive housing. The leader of Ingushetia explained their difficulties with amendments to the Law "On internally displaced persons".
According to the court's spokesperson, the complainants have noted that the regulation provided by the law deprived them of their right to housing, although other people of the same category were granted housing, the "Interfax-South" reports.
