Call for "big jihad" demonstrates Kadyrov's resentment against blogger Abdurakhmanov

The outcome of Djambulat Umarov's discussion with the blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov has forced Ramzan Kadyrov to re-interpret his father's calls for jihad. The journalist Maxim Shevchenko has tried to defend Akhmat Kadyrov's position in a dispute with Abdurakhmanov, but social network users doubt the sincerity of his arguments.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, and the blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov disputed about the reasons of the war in Chechnya. Umarov found it difficult to answer the blogger's question about Akhmat Kadyrov's calls for jihad. On March 1, Ramzan Kadyrov clarified his father's words about jihad, after which Umarov stopped the discussion with Abdurakhmanov.

On March 5, Kadyrov, speaking on air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, called on the residents of Chechnya for a "big jihad" – the spiritual struggle of Muslims in their everyday life.

He also came down with curses on critics of the republic's authorities, hinting at Abdurakhmanov.

Observers in Chechnya have noted that Kadyrov is extremely sensitive to any criticism.

Umarov was unable to defend his position and was forced to stop the discussion, while Kadyrov was wounded, said Sultan, a teacher.

After Minister Umarov, journalist Maxim Shevchenko became Abdurakhmanov's opponent. He justified Akhmat Kadyrov's actions, including his call for jihad. The journalist opposed Kadyrov to Shamil Basaev, who led the militant attack on Budyonnovsk: according to Shevchenko, Kadyrov's approving words about the attack on Budyonnovsk did not imply that he approved the killings of civilians. In his turn, Abdurakhmanov recalled that Kadyrov and Basaev were on the same side.
