Azerbaijan reports ceasefire violation in conflict zone

The positions of the Azerbaijani forces in the Karabakh conflict zone have been shelled 25 times over 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the parties to the conflict regularly accuse each other of breaking the truce. Thus, in the morning on February 24, Azerbaijan registered 24 shelling attacks from Armenia. In its turn, Nagorno-Karabakh declared 150 shelling attacks against the positions of the Defence Army in the week from February 17 to 23.

"Over 24 hours, the units of the Armed Forces of Armenia 25 times violated the ceasefire regime in different directions of the front. From the positions located in the village of Paravakar in the Ijevan District and at nameless heights in the Krasnoselsky District of Armenia, the positions of the Azerbaijani army were shelled at nameless heights in the Gazakh and Gadabay Districts," reports today the Azerbaijani MoD on its website.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the fire also came from the positions located in the Tartar, Agdam, Fizuli, and Jebrail Districts.

As at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time on February 25, the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh did not post on their websites any comments regarding the statement voiced by the Azerbaijani MoD.
