Astrakhan authorities refuse to sanction action in memory of Nemtsov

Local authorities have rejected two applications for a rally and picket in memory of Boris Nemtsov in a mini-park of Astrakhan, said Mikhail Doliev, the head of the regional branch of the "Parnas" Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2018, in Astrakhan, an action in memory of Nemtsov was held on February 25 in the "Hyde Park" after the Mayoralty refused to sanction it.

The oppositional Russian politician, Boris Nemtsov, was killed in Moscow on February 27, 2015. Five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were convicted under his murder case.

"They found fault with the fact that I wrote 'rally' in the text of the application, but in one place I made a mistake and wrote 'picket'," said Mr Doliev.

According to his story, the second application was filed on February 18 – for a mass picket, but the authorities rejected it either.

In the State Guarding Service of the Astrakhan Region's Cultural Heritage has offered the organizers to change the place of the action due to the fact that "an event dedicated to the promotion of healthy lifestyle" will be held in the mini-park at that time on the same day.
