Transfer by Sargsyan's brother of money to Armenian budget reminds of his criminal case

Alexander Sargsyan, a brother of the third president of Armenia, has transferred 18.5 million US dollars to the state after initiating a criminal case against him for frauds. According to Migran Pogosyan, an advocate, the case was initiated on the basis of the sketches of the artist Martiros Saryan found during the search.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2018, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Alexander Sargsyan, a brother of the former President of Armenia, agreed to transfer 30 million US dollars to the state budget.

On September 11, 2018, Arthur Vanetsyan, the head of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, announced that the second President of the country, Robert Kocharyan, was accused of a financial fraud for several hundred million US dollars. He also promised to make public the information about the machinations involving Alexander Sargsyan, a brother of the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.

Edmon Marukyan, the head of the "Enlightened Armenia" parliamentary faction, said that the public should know why Sargsyan has transferred money to the budget.

Such processes should be available to the public in order to avoid corruption risks, Akop Badalyan, an observer, has stated.
