Law enforcers tell details of attack on policemen in Nalchik

The attack on policemen was committed at a busy intersection in Nalchik, where DPS (road-and-patrol service) posts were often on duty. According to records from surveillance cameras, the attacked DPS inspectors did not expect an attack and were doing their routine work.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on January 24, DPS inspectors were attacked in Nalchik. Three of the four attackers were killed, another one died in hospital. Four attackers arrived in the republic from a neighbouring region, sources said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has noted that the attackers had no documents on them; and it's to early to state who they were and where they came from.

The attackers were armed with five knives, the "RIA Novosti" reports with reference to its law enforcement source.
