Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of machine gun fire

Positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces were shelled 29 times over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Azerbaijan reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 16, Azerbaijan reported about shelling of its positions in two villages. In total, the Azerbaijani MoD registered 26 cases of ceasefire violations per day.

"Units of the armed forces of Armenia used large-calibre machine guns and 29 times violated the ceasefire regime in different directions of the front within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its website today.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani army were shelled in the villages of Gaimagly, Ashagy Askipara, Jafarli, and Bala Jafarli in the Gazakh District.

At 9:05 a.m. Moscow time of today, the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not posted on their websites any information regarding the statement voiced by the Azerbaijani MoD.
