Ingush Mufti invites other Mufties to Ingushetia for explanations

Against the background of harsh statements of the Muslims' Coordination Centre (MCC) of Northern Caucasus, the Mufti of Ingushetia has invited the MCC members to come to Ingushetia to get acquainted with the situation in the republic, the Ingush Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ingush Council of Teips (family clans) had summoned the republic's MPs to the Sharia Court to establish how they had voted on the issue of the Chechen-Ingush border; however, on December 15, only 10 out of 30 MPs appeared at the Court session. The MCC of Northern Caucasus has accused activists of intimidating the Ingush MPs and invited the Ingush Mufti to the session on January 12 to discuss the permissible conditions for the use of the Sharia Court.

On January 7, Assistant Mufti Kharon Torshkhoev stated that when organizing the Congress of Muslims of Ingushetia on December 1, all the rules were observed, says the website of the SAM of the Republic of Ingushetia.

The Mufti Isa-Haji [Khamkhoev] mentioned "the statement of the MCC of Northern Caucasus regarding his activities." "After such statements made in late December, in which Isa-Haji was invited to discuss the activities of the Ingush SAM, the Ingush Muftiate did not receive any invitation from the MCC, neither written or oral ones," said the statement.
