Screening of film about Korean pop group cancelled in Makhachkala because of threats in social networks

In Makhachkala, the screening of the film "Love Yourself" about the BTS Korean pop group, scheduled for January, has been cancelled. The administration of the Russian BTS fan club explained the cancellation by threats in social networks.

In Dagestan, they repeatedly called to protect local residents from cultural phenomena and events, while accusing the organizers of departure from traditional values. Thus, in September 2018, the Timati Black Star musical label cancelled concerts in Makhachkala concerts of two of its rappers, MC Doni and Egor Kreed. On November 25, 2018, an anime festival was also disrupted.

After the appeals in social networks to disrupt the film screenings and threats against those who would go to the premiere in a Makhachkala, the cinema refused to show it, the "Youth of Dagestan" writes.

Meanwhile, the screening of the film is scheduled in a number of other cities in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).

"Our bosses will never allow something like that to be shown in Makhachkala. This, as they say, is a threat to the city," the user named Bella White wrote on the VKontakte social network.

Some debaters have noted that it is better to watch the film at home or in another city.

"It is better to accept it and wait until it appears on the Internet. Anyhow, we are not allowed to do what we like," Dina Asadulaeva has written.
