NAC reports killing militant in Dagestan

Law enforcers have killed an armed militant during a special operation conducted in the vicinity of the village of Endirei, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) announced on December 7.

The casualty had been involved in terrorist activities, the RIA "Novosti" quotes the message of the NAC's Information Centre.

"Firearms, ammunition and an improvised explosive device (IED) were found at the venue of the armed clash," says the message.

The killed militant was the last member of the Endirei grouping, the TASS writes with reference to its source in Dagestani power structures. "Now, the grouping is completely liquidated," said the source, adding that the above militant had joined the grouping in May this year and was involved in blowing up the grave of Sheikh Said Afandi of Chirkei and attacks on policemen; however, the source did not specify the particular attack on law enforcers.

At night on May 9, in the Dagestan village of Chirkei, a room for ziyarat (worship) was blown up near the tomb of Sheikh Said of Chirkei. The responsibility for the explosion was claimed by the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia by the court ruling.

According to the source, no law enforcers were wounded during the special operation. No injuries among civilians are reported.
