Visit of Nagorno-Karabakh President to Moscow provokes sharp Azerbaijan's reaction

The visit of Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Saakyan to Moscow on November 24 undermines efforts for the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and may lead to an unpredictable development of the situation, states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for Azerbaijan.

The permission to enter Russia issued for Bako Saakyan "undermines the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and contradicts the Russia's mediation obligations as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group," the Azerbaijani MFA notes.

"This step of the Russian side does not correspond to the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and contradicts the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security," the TASS quotes the Azerbaijani MFA as stating.

The Azerbaijani side does not rule out "unpredictable development of the conflict." "In this case, the entire responsibility will fall on the Armenian side," the Azerbaijani MFA states.
