Ramzan Kadyrov calls on to detain opponents of Chechen-Ingush agreement on border

The Chechen authorities plan to equip the territories on the border with Ingushetia to attract tourists, announces Ramzan Kadyrov. He has suggested detaining those who "provoke" conflicts between Chechen and Ingush people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. The laws to define the boundaries were signed by the leaders of both republics. In the period from October 4 to 17, residents of Ingushetia held a protest action in Magas.

On October 30, the Constitutional Court of Ingushetia found the law on border unconstitutional. Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov said that the decision of the Ingush Constitutional Court does not cancel the agreement on the border, since it had already entered into force.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, "the toughest measures within the law" should be used against those persons who "will not calm down" and "try to destabilize the situation," report authors of a story on the "Grozny" TV Channel.

Opponents of the border agreement will have to reckon with the position of the Chechen authorities, since the republic is a full-fledged party to the agreement, notes Caucasus historian Akhmet Yarlykapov.

According to him, from Ramzan Kadyrov's point of view, the policy of Chechnya should show that the leader of the republic was not involved in the Ingush people's dissatisfaction with the actions of Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The expert believes that such development of events will expand the influence of Ramzan Kadyrov on Ingushetia and it is in the interest of the Chechen leader to avoid open conflict with Ingush people.
