Lawyers argue about significance of decision pronounced by Ingush Constitutional Court

Ibragim Doskiev, the deputy chairman of the Ingush Constitutional Court, has stated that the Court's decision declaring the law on the border with Chechnya unconstitutional is final and takes effect from the moment it is pronounced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 30, the Ingush Constitutional Court found the law on the border with Chechnya to be unconstitutional. In turn, Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov said that the decision pronounced by the Constitutional Court did not cancel the agreement on the border, since it had already come into force. According to the leader of Ingushetia, the issue should be resolved by the Constitutional Court of Russia.

The Constitutional Court of Ingushetia has no right to resolve issues related to the delimitation of the border and MPs should have sent a request to the Constitutional Court of Russia, state advocates Dmitry Agranovsky and Alexander Karabanov as quoted by the "Lenta".

There had been yet no such precedents in the practice of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, noted retired federal judge Sergey Pashin.

It should be noted that the lawyers interviewed earlier have emphasized that the establishment of borders between the subjects of the federation is within the competence of the republic's authorities.
