A system of bringing apologies to Ramzan Kadyrov fails in Ingushetia

The Ingush reaction to Ramzan Kadyrov's visits to the leaders of the protest in the republic forced the leader of Chechnya to abandon tactics of pressure on critics, and after that even the Mufti of Ingushetia, who was loyal to the Chechen authorities, became their opponent, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 19, in the Ingush village of Surkhakhi, the leader of Chechnya met Elder Mukhadjir Nalgiev, who criticized him at a rally in Magas. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, he and Mukhadjir Nalgiev apologized to each other for possible offenses. A video appeared on social networks in which Ingush activist Daut Yandiev apologized to Ramzan Kadyrov for speaking at a rally in Magas.

The "Novaya Gazeta" associated Ramzan Kadyrov's visits to Ingush activists they had voiced criticism against him with the practice of public apologies in Chechnya. However, with the rest of the apologies, "everything went wrong and in contradiction to the scenario."

"The precedent of mutual apologies has strengthens the new knowledge that the Chechen leader is not so terrible not to dare to tell him a word across," writes the author. He also mentions the appeal of Isa Khamkhoev, Mufti of Ingushetia, to Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen parliament.

On October 28, the leader of Chechnya announced that the issue of defining the borders between Chechnya and Ingushetia was "closed." Beslan, a member of a Chechen NGO, found Ramzan Kadyrov's statement to be "premature."

"In Ingushetia, protest sentiments are still relevant, and they are preparing to hold the World Ingush Congress ... The situation has not yet been fully resolved," Beslan said.
