16 years since the capture of hostages at Dubrovka

People in Moscow are coming today to the building of the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre, where 16 years ago Chechen militants captured 916 people as hostages. On October 26, 2002, at least 130 hostages died during the storming of the building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that mourning events are annually held in Russia to mark the anniversary of the death of hostages at the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre. On October 26, 2017, 130 white balloons were sent into the sky near the Centre, according to the number of terror act casualties.

Relatives of the perished hostages demand from the authorities to name the gas that was used and by whose order the storming of the building with the hostages was undertaken, and why the proper evacuation and medical assistance to victims were not organized. These questions arise from the video report "Dubrovka terror act – 14 years if silence" of the "Caucasian Knot".

"We have a lot of complaints about the quality of the investigation, the quality of medical care, and the quality of the rescue operation itself ... The former hostages and their relatives are left for self-survival; the state does nothing for them ... The gas that had been used is still unknown; we don't know about its impact on human body, and as a result we can't receive the due medical care," said then, in particular, Svetlana Gubareva, who was among the hostages and who lost her family there.
