Residents of Chechnya express no wonder about Ingush activists' apologies to Kadyrov

Two Ingush activists, who apologized to Ramzan Kadyrov for criticism, continued the practice of public repentance, reported residents of Chechnya.

On September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. On October 4, the leader of Ingushetia signed the law establishing the border against the background of mass protests in Magas, and on October 5, it was reported that the leader of Chechnya had signed the agreement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 19, Ramzan Kadyrov arrived in the Ingush village of Surkhakhi and met Elder Mukhazhir Nalgiev, who spoke at a rally in Magas criticizing the leader of Chechnya. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, after a respectful conversation, he and Mukhazhir Nalgiev apologized to each other for possible offenses, "embraced and parted."

Social networks also disseminated a video in which, while talking about the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia, Ingush activist Daut Yandiev spoke negatively against Ramzan Kadyrov and said he did not consider the Chechen and Ingush people were brothers.

After that, on October 20, a video was posted on YouTube, in which Daut Yandiev explained to Ramzan Kadyrov his statement as "words voiced in a hurry."

On October 21, YouTube also made public the video entitled "Daut Yandiev apologizes to the Chechen People". In the video, the Ingush activist looks into a camera and states that at a rally in Magas, he voiced "incorrect statements" against the Chechens. "The Chechen and Ingush people are brothers ... Today, I address the Chechen people and say: 'Please forgive me!'," said Daut Yandiev in the video, whose statements were translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

As of 1:05 p.m. Moscow time, the video with the Daut Yandiev's apologies to Ramzan Kadyrov gained 4651 views and 152 comments were posted under it. Some social network users treated the Daut Yandiev's apologies as a manifestation of courage, while others, on the contrary, considered the activist's apologies a concession to the leader of Chechnya.

Public apologies to Ramzan Kadyrov have long become a "routine", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Maret, a public employee.

"It is enough to remember Aishat Inaeva, who dared to criticize Ramzan [Kadyrov] in 2015, or Ramazan Djalaldinov, who complained about the Ramzan Kadyrov's authorities to President Putin in 2016, or Krasnoyarsk MP Konstantin Senchenko. Finally, all of them publicly repented and apologized to the leader of Chechnya," noted the woman.
