Residents of Vladikavkaz accuse authorities of silencing "Electrozinc" problem

Social network users have criticized the statements of the North-Ossetian authorities that the smoke from a fire at the "Electrozinc" plant does not pose a threat to residents of Vladikavkaz.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on October 21, a fire started in one of the shops at the "Electrozinc" metallurgical plant in Vladikavkaz. During extinguishing of the fire, a rescuer from the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) was killed and two of his colleagues were injured. At 3:33 p.m. Moscow time, the fire was completely extinguished, the MfE reported.

Local residents expressed their concern about a dark cloud over Vladikavkaz caused by the fire at the "Electrozinc" plant. Social networks disseminated a call to leave the city.

"According to eyewitnesses, there was a traffic jam on the outskirts of Vladikavkaz. People are trying to leave the city. Earlier, ecologists and the press service for the 'Electrozinc' reported that the fire did not pose a danger to residents," reported the "Ossetia-Iryston" TV Channel on Instagram.

The report has become one of the most discussed Instagram posts concerning the "Electrozinc" plant and gained more than 150 comments in two hours. Participants of the discussion express their indignation about the fact that the authorities do not disseminate information about the measures of individual protection. Residents of Vladikavkaz do not trust the statements that the smoke poses no danger.
