Chechen scientists and Diaspora explain Kadyrov's actions to determine border with Ingushetia

Chechen historians and geographers saw no reason for the claims voiced by protesters in Magas in connection with the new borders between Chechnya and Ingushetia. The Chechen Diaspora in the West agrees with Ramzan Kadyrov, although it usually opposes his actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since October 4, Magas hosts an action against the establishment of the new administrative border with Chechnya.

Participants of the protest action demand the referendum on the border issue and the resignation of the Ingush leader, who signed the border agreement with Chechnya.

The claims voiced by Ingush residents against the agreement on the border with Chechnya are based on emotions and do not have sufficient historical grounds, believes Saipudi Nataev, a Chechen ethnographer.

He has suggested that "some forces want to dismiss Yunus-Bek Evkurov" through the issue of territories.

"People want to shake up Northern Caucasus, and this is not good for the Ingush or Chechen people," noted Saipudi Nataev.

The historian has explained that both republics are aware of the commonality of the two nations, but residents of Ingushetia, who are acutely experiencing the loss of the Prigorodny District, are afraid that "two more districts will be given up and the republic will be united with Chechnya."

A spokesman for the Chechen Diaspora abroad has noted that opinion of its members coincides with the position of the Chechen leader, but the Diaspora does not want to "demonstrate public support for Ramzan Kadyrov."

In his turn, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a well-known Chechen blogger, stated on YouTube that he did not understand why the transfer of a "scrap of land" caused the mass protest in Ingushetia.
