Shepherd hit a mine in Karabakh conflict zone

Azad Gasanov, a 22-year-old resident of the Tartar District, was blown up by a mine while grazing cattle. He was operated on and his leg was amputated, the hospital said.

The incident occurred in the morning on October 11 near the village of Gasangaya. Azad Gasanov was grazing cattle, got lost due to a heavy fog and found himself in the mined area near the troops contact line, Ilgar Gasymov, the head of the village administration, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"When the mine exploded, Azad, despite his severe wound, managed to call for help by mobile phone. He was quickly taken away and brought to the Tartar District Hospital," said Gasymov.

According to his story, since Gasanov's wound turned out to be heavy, he was further transported to the Central Hospital of the neighbouring Barda District "for more qualified medics to help him."

The doctors there operated on Gasanov and amputated one of his legs; now, there is no threat to his life, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was assured at the Barda Central District Hospital.
