Khabib Nurmagomedov threatens UFC to terminate his contract

Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov, a lightweight champion, has announced his intention to break his contract with the UFC in case if his assistant Zubair Tukhugov, a Chechen native, is dismissed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 7, at the UFC-229 tournament in Las Vegas, the Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated the Irishman Conor McGregor in four rounds retaining his champion's belt in the lightweight category. Because of the brawl that broke out in the hall after the fight, penalty sanctions can be applied to Khabib, the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) head has stated. Nurmagomedov apologized for his behaviour.

Chechen fighter Zubair Tukhugov, an assistant to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who participated in the fight, will be deprived of a chance to have a battle with Artyom Lobov, a Conor McGregor's friend, the UFC president announces. Zubair Tukhugov himself boasted to his followers that he "slapped" Conor McGregor after he had been defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Today, in his Instagram, Khabib Nurmagomedov has written about his readiness to terminate a contract with the UFC because of the punishment imposed on members of his team.

The Dagestani athlete has expressed his indignation about the fact that the UFC had not terminated a single contract with members of the Conor McGregor's team after an attack on a bus with UFC fighters, including Khabib Nurmagomedov himself, and a number of provocative statements. Khabib Nurmagomedov has noted that he had only "finished what Conor McGregor had begun" and that he considers it is unfair to impose punishment on his team members for participating in a fight after the battle, "since members of the both teams were involved in the fight."
