Disinformation about rally in support of Evkurov benefits Ingush authorities

Information about a rally in support of Yunus-Bek Evkurov and the subsequent refutation thereof have continued the trend of publishing unverified and knowingly false information about the conflict around the Ingush-Chechen border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from October 4, the capital of Ingushetia hosts the around-the-clock mass rally in protest against the change in the border with Chechnya. Protesters demand a referendum on the border issue and resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, who signed the border agreement with Chechnya.

On October 8, at the background of the protest action in Magas, information was spread that the authorities of Ingushetia were preparing a rally in support of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, by forcing employees of budgetary organizations to take part in it.

One of the first messages about this rally appeared at 7:41 p.m. Moscow time on the Telegram-channel "Ingushetia_2018", which informed that a rally in support of Evkurov in Concord Square in Nazran was already organized. The "Caucasian Knot" failed to find any confirmation of this information.

At about 9:30 p.m. Moscow time, an official message appeared in the website of the head of Ingushetia, in which the press service refuted the above information. Artyom Perekhrist, an assistant-adviser to the head of Ingushetia, called the information spread in social networks as false.

Let us note here that the authorities of Ingushetia also issued some information, which, as it turned out later, had nothing to do with reality. In particular, the experts-cartographers, who analyzed, at the request of the "Caucasian Knot", the new line of the Chechen-Ingush border came to the conclusion that the words of the Ingush leadership about the "equal exchange of territories" turned out to be untrue. Ingushetia transferred to Chechnya the territories, which are 26 times larger than those received from the Chechen Republic as a result of the Border Agreement, the material of the "Caucasian Knot" has stated.
