In Chechnya, residents of Nadterechny District disappointed with loss of lands

Under the agreement on the border change, Chechnya handed over to Ingushetia the agricultural lands of the former "Goragorsky" state-owned farm in the Nadterechny District. The lands handed over to the neighbouring republic are good for farming, local residents complain.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. On October 1, the leader of Chechnya requested the opponents of the change in the border "not to create problems for themselves."

The agreement affected the mountainous and wooded areas without any villages or towns, stated Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

"The Ingush people got farmlands in the vicinity of Goragorsk and Komarovo ... This is a hilly area, but rather comfortable for farming. These lands have been handed over to Ingushetia. We have got nothing in return," said Ibragim, a local resident.

In the Nadterechny District, many people are dissatisfied with the transfer of lands to the neighbouring republic, noted Zayindi, a resident of Chechnya. "A significant territory has been cut off from the district in return for other lands in the Sunzha District. Naturally, no one is happy about that fact," the local resident noted.

The agreement caused discontent in Ingushetia. The change in the border will affect residents of the mountainous part of Ingushetia, in particular, the village of Dattykh, stated Sarazhdin Sultygov, the co-chairman of the "Mekhk-Kkhel". There are a lot of historical and cultural monuments on the lands handed over to Chechnya, noted Ruslan Mutsolgov, the leader of the "Yabloko" regional office.
