Kuban FSB reports detention of Ukrainian spy

Law enforcers have announced Sergey Stefanenko, a citizen of Ukraine, who was detained in the Krasnodar Territory (also named Kuban by the main river), to be an exposed agent of the Ukrainian Security Service (known as the SBU).

According to the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service), the activities held to combat illegal migration in Kuban have allowed identifying the SBU agent.

FSB agents assert that Stefanenko has explained that he had come to Kuban to work and earn money, but in fact he performed the SBU's mission by "collecting data on military facilities, movement of military equipment and personnel of the army units stationed in the Krasnodar Territory," the RIA "Novosti" reports referring to the FSB.

The today's reports of the State TV and Radio Company (known as GTRK) "Kuban" showed footage with the detainee. A man presented as Sergey Stefanenko said into the camera that he was recruited in 2015. According to his story, he was instructed to "collect information on military facilities in the territory of Russia" and subsequently deliver it in person to an SBU officer, but he did not have time to do so.

It follows from the FSB's report, after being warned about the inadmissibility of espionage, Stefanenko was expelled from the territory of Russia.
