European activists urge to postpone Chechen's extradition to Russia

Actions against extradition of Akhmed Altamirov, an ethnic Chechen and a native of Ingushetia, accused of links with militants, to Russia were held in Stockholm, Paris and Berlin. Authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to extradite him after they received Russia's assurances that Altamirov would not be tortured.

Today, Mansur Sadulaev, the head of the charitable association "Vayfond" (Sweden), has held a solo picket at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Stockholm. He demanded to stop the extradition of Akhmed Altamirov. The charge against Altamirov was falsified, said the picketer's poster, a photo of which was placed by the "Vayfond" in the Instagram.

In Russia, the 24-year-old Akhmed was accused of links with Syrian militants. Since 2013, Altamirov lived in Istanbul; and in March 2018, he arrived in Sarajevo for one day, where he was arrested as wanted by the Interpol, the "Kavkaz.Realii" writes with reference to the advocate Alexei Obolenets.

The "Vayfond" asserts that Altamirov was among other natives of Northern Caucasus, who in Russia were unreasonably declared participants in the warfare in Syria for militants.

The Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, also accused of links with Syrian militants, has spoken in Altamirov's support. He claims that he has never been to Syria.
