Ramzan Kadyrov equates rights defenders to militants

The head of Chechnya has treated the rights defenders, who criticized law enforcers' work during and after the recent series of attacks committed in the republic, as enemies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the above attacks took place on August 20 in the Shali District and in Grozny. Five militants were killed. The "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, has claimed responsibility for all the attacks.

The oldest attacker was 18 years old, the rest – from 11 to 17, which confirms the conclusion of the "Caucasian Knot" about the rejuvenation of the armed underground.

"There is no doubt that a command to attack policemen came from abroad by means of social networks; this is a real conspiracy against the entire Chechen people," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in the social network "VKontakte".

He has warned those who sympathize or help militants that such people "have no place in Chechnya."

"I'm sick and tired of talks of the so-called rights defenders, who raise their voices at the slightest attempt to conduct an investigation, and organize a preventive work," Kadyrov has noted, adding that "parents bear personal responsibility for their children's actions."

Earlier, rights defenders expressed the opinion that in Chechnya, authorities would take tough measures after the August 20 attacks, as it was after the attacks on law enforcers in December 2016.

In 2016, rights defenders treated the refusal from "soft power" as the reason for instability in Northern Caucasus. As stated by Svetlana Gannushkina, Chechnya has built, by methods of state terror, a totalitarian "state inside the state."
