Employees of the Ingush CCE convicted for using torture

Six employees of the Ingush Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE or "E" Centre) have been sentenced to imprisonment from three to 10 years; the seventh one received a conditional punishment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of the employees of the Ingush "E" Centre, accused of murder, extortion, abuse of power with the use of violence against detainees, and other crimes, was considered by the court in Nalchik. The defendants refused to plead guilty. Five of them, including the head of the CCE, Timur Khamkhoev, said that they considered themselves to be victims of slander and political intrigues.

Torture victims of the Ingush CCE dared to voice out their accusations only after the main suspects were arrested. The check of the allegations of atrocities in "E" Centre was initiated after the death of one of those who allegedly had passed through a violent interrogation.
