Russia's MFA not to intervene in Tatunashvili's case

Georgian participants of the Geneva meeting have called on Russia to immediately transfer the internal organs of Archil Tatunashvili to Georgia for a full-fledged examination, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on June 21. The Archil Tatunashvili's remains are in Vladikavkaz, but the issue should be resolved by Georgia and South Ossetia, Russia's deputy foreign minister said.

On June 19-20, at the next round of Geneva debates, Georgian delegates handed over to the co-chairs and other participants an interim conclusion of the National Expertise Bureau, which states the torture and killing of Archil Tatunashvili, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) stated on June 21.

The Geneva debaters have called on Russia to immediately transfer the internal organs of Archil Tatunashvili to Georgia for a full-fledged examination. Georgian delegates laid the responsibility for Tatunashvili's death on the Russian Federation, the "InterPressNews" reported on June 21, referring to the Georgia's MFA.

Archil Tatunashvili died in a Tskhinvali hospital on February 23, the day after he was detained by South-Ossetian law enforcers on suspicion of preparing an act of sabotage. His body was handed over to Georgia only on March 20; and Georgian experts found multiple traces of torture on Archil's body, Sozar Subari, the Minister on Displaced Persons' Matters, has stated.

The Archil Tatunashvili's internal organs are in Vladikavkaz, Grigory Karasin, a Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, has stated in Geneva.

"An examination was made in a Vladikavkaz laboratory; and I want to state that the laboratory made an independent examination; and you should understand that Russia can't solve this problem, since it arose between Georgia and South Ossetia," the "Georgia Online" quotes Mr Karasin saying on June 21.
