Magomed Khazbiev's defence demands to consider his case outside Ingushetia

During the session on the case against Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev, the defence claimed the court's partiality and requested its withdrawal and consideration of the case outside Ingushetia. The court dismissed the defence motion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after coming to Ingushetia from Chechnya, where he was under state protection, Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and insulting a public official.

Today, the Magas District Court of Ingushetia has begun considering the merits of the criminal case against Magomed Khazbiev.

"Today, we have challenged all the judicial staff of Ingushetia and requested to transfer the criminal case to any other court outside the republic," reported advocate Andrei Sabinin.

In their motion, the defenders noted they had "grounds to believe that the judges of the Magas District Court of the Republic of Ingushetia would not be impartial and objective during the consideration of the criminal case," since "the leader of Ingushetia was the victim" in the case.

According to advocate Andrei Sabinin, the defence motion was dismissed by the court.
