Video of death of detained Chechen causes resonance on Internet

Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a blogger, has reported new circumstances surrounding the death of Turpal Israilov, a Chechnya resident, who was detained by law enforcers. Their actions have triggered active discussions on the Internet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Turpal Israilov, a resident of the Berdykel (Komsomolskoye) village of the Grozny District of Chechnya, was detained on April 23. On April 25, his dead body was handed over to his family. Local residents believe that the young man could have been tortured to death.

Turpal Israilov was 31 years old; and he had a wife and two children, Tumso Abdurakhmanov reported in a video posted on the YouTube.

The blogger said that Turpal's father had taken him to law enforcers, believing their promises that they would only have a prophylactic talk with the son. When Turpal's body was brought home, law enforcers said that he had been a militant.

According to the blogger, relatives of the deceased young man are intimidated and fear to turn to the police.

Internet commentators thank Abdurakhmanov for his courage and curse those who had tortured Israilov.

"This is North Korea, not Chechnya," writes Rustam Magomedov. "In North Korea, things are changing for the better, while here we're coming back to the Middle Ages," Ruslan Bogatirev has supported this opinion.

Let us note that Abdurakhmanov is outside Russia. In December 2017, he applied from the Warsaw jail to Polish authorities for political refuge. The blogger added that his criminal prosecution in Russia was caused by a conflict with a high-ranking relative of the head of Chechnya.
