Policeman in Dagestan tells about torture after detention
A court in Khasavyurt has acquitted the policeman Imambek Taisonov, accused of abuse of power and extortion, admitting that investigators failed to check the policeman's complaints about torture. Taisonov himself confirmed that he had been tortured and demanded to confess to committing a crime.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 22, 2016, it became known about the arrest of an officer of the Khasavyurt OMVD (Interior Division), suspected of extorting money from the alleged culprit of a road accident. According to investigators, Taisonov had beaten him up, threatening him with a pistol, said Bulat Mukhametjanov, an activist of the human rights organization "Zona Prava" (Zone of Law).
After detention, Taisonov was choked, burned up with a soldering lamp, hands, nape and face, and was tortured with electric current, demanding his confessions, the "Mediazona" has reported.
