Azerbaijani journalist wounded in France

Rakhim Namazov, a journalist, who was granted asylum in France after being persecuted in Azerbaijan, was seriously wounded today when his car was shelled.

The incident occurred near Toulouse this morning. According to eyewitnesses, another car drove up to Namazov's car, in which he was travelling with his wife; and eight shots were made at the journalist.

Rakhim Namazov was seriously wounded in his back; his wife received a head wound. They were both taken to a hospital where the woman died, the RIA "Novosti" reported with reference to the "France-3" TV Channel.

Namazov has lived in Toulouse since 2010; earlier he was in custody in Azerbaijan, where he also received threats, the RIA "Novosti" has added.
